The Natural State of Man

It’s official. Our nation has ceased to be a Republic and we are now officially an “Aristocracy”.

If it has been a while since you read about this form of Government, here is a quick definition from Wikipedia – which seems to be about as good of a definition as I have found. (I’ve left the links intact)

Aristocracy is a form of government in which a few of the most prominent citizens rule. The term is derived from the Greek aristokratia, meaning “rule of the best”.^[1] See Aristocracy Ancient Greece, where by a council of prominent citizens was commonly used and contrasted with monarchy, in which an individual king held the power.^[2] Later, aristocracies primarily consisted of an elite aristocratic class, privileged by birth and wealth. Since the French Revolution, aristocracy has generally been contrasted with democracy, in which all citizens hold some form of political power.

This is exactly what has happened in our Government in regards to the “Healthcare Enslavement Bill”. The Democrats have decided that they are now in charge of your life. They know what is best for you – the little people. YOU are now a SLAVE of the State. Because you are alive, you must now pay the Government to be allowed to walk around freely. If you refuse to pay, the Government will impound all your belongings and you will be imprisoned. And if you think the 13th Amendment will save you, think again -because the 13th Amendment does not apply to criminals.

But the truth is, this was inevitable. Eventually, all forms of Government will degenerate into a form in which a small class of elites will rule over the masses. While the particulars of Rule may vary, given enough time, all Governments will either evolve into some sort of Monarchy or Dictatorship.

Or they will collapse – and start again. It is a cycle that always repeats in every society.

The reason for this insidious cycle is that Man is not capable of self governance without becoming intoxicated with power. In 1887 a man named John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton (1834–1902) wrote in a letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.”

Of course, Acton was correct. And now we are experiencing this first hand in our own Government. Our forefathers recognized this “natural state of man” when crafting our Constitution. They put lots of checks and balances in our Government. Unfortunately, they made one miscalculation. After much discussion, it was decided not to include Thomas Jefferson’s recommendation for “term limits”. Then again in 1951 when the 22nd Amendment was ratified, we should have included Congress, as well as the Presidency, for Term Limits. But Congress – just as Acton had stated, didn’t want to limit THEIR power, only the President’s power.

Part II of this equation is the fact that the masses, like all of man, are also influenced by Power & Corruption, but are too ignorant to recognize it. Lower class people often desire “Social Justice” because it gives them a sense of “Power”. Unfortunately, it is a false power. One that appears to provide relief but instead, deepens their dependency on Government. Those with actual power use this ignorance to their advantage, and to maintain their control.

It is said that for everything there is a Beginning, a Middle and an End. Governments begin with the best of intentions by people who are well motivated (usually due to oppression) to install a better form of representation. They gradually decline because of Progressivism and Liberalism as the people demand more than their share of resources from the government, and as those with power – seek more power. Eventually, the Government will end in Revolution as the people can no longer tolerate the power that they themselves have granted to the oppressors. After a period of Anarchy, the people will begin again, with a new government.

This is where we find ourselves today. At the end of the middle – and the beginning of the end. The oppression of the masses has begun and will steadily increase until the entire system collapses, the people revolt and an unfortunate, bloody battle ensues.

It’s really unfortunate. Our founders had the right idea, but no document or manner of law will prevent Man from reverting back to his Natural State.
