Take a moment to look at the image of these cute little angels.
They were born equal.
They are equal in the eyes of God. They are equal in the eyes of the Law. They will have the same opportunities in our country as every other child. They have the same opportunity for an education. They will have the same opportunity to play with dolls, get married (divorced), start a business, contract a disease, drive a car or become an astronaut. They both have the same opportunity to succeed in life – or to fail.
You would never suggest that one of them, should be treated better than the other. You would be a shameful parent, if you were to imply that one of these little girls is entitled to sit on her butt, and have dolls given to her – while the other must “finish her chores” before she can have dolls of her own.
But that is exactly what you do every single day.
You see, one of those little girls will grow up and start a business. She will work hard. She will take risks and will likely fail many times. But eventually, she will succeed. She will develop a product that improves the lives of millions of people. She will give jobs to many, who will use their income to improve their own lives. She will give back to the community in countless ways. And yes, she will become RICH.
And you will reward her – with higher taxes.
Because she dared to take chances, suffer through the losses, and to make something of herself you will treat her as a second class citizen. She must pay more – because she has more. It doesn’t matter that she worked hard to get it.
She is no longer equal to her twin sister, who chose not to succeed and now doesn’t have to pay taxes. As a human being and in the eyes of God – you now favor the little girl who chooses to do nothing with her life. You have told her that she is special, and doesn’t have to pay taxes. You explain that she is not a freeloader, she is just “disadvantaged”. Although you can’t say, how. And you tell her that she needn’t worry, because her sister will pay for both of them, as she should, because her sister is RICH and deserves to pay more in taxes.
This is exactly what our “Progressive Tax System” does. And by (all of us) accepting it the way we do, we are choosing to value the life of one person more than the other. It is immoral, it has always been immoral, and it should be stopped.
The only tax system that is morally acceptable is one that does not favor one living soul over another – for any reason. It should no more favor the poor over the rich, than it should favor the black over the white. Or the young from the old. The only morally acceptable tax is, a “FLAT TAX.” Not a Value Added Tax (VAT). Not a National Sales Tax. But a simple Flat Tax. One that says, “Give Uncle Sam 10% of what you earn”.
If you make $10.00 you will give Uncle Sam, $1.00
If you make $1,000,000.00 you will give the Government $100,000.00
While we can reasonably argue over the percentage, the point is that no human soul is treated differently. We would each pay a flat percentage of what we earn, no matter who we are or what we do for a living. This is the only true “Fair Tax”. (Not to be confused with the Liberal “FAIR TAX” deception)
Truthfully, we should have been damn grateful that the rich have put up with us for as long as they have. They have given us jobs. They make cool gadgets that improve the quality of our lives. They make clothing so that we don’t have to shear our own sheep. They refine gasoline, so that we can get our sorry ass back and forth to work. Rich people make air conditioners to keep us cool, and heaters to keep us warm. When was the last time that YOU had to cut your own firewood so that you wouldn’t freeze to death? Everything that you own – you got because a RICH person – Made it for you.
Exactly when in our society did we become the people who think, just because we need something, we are entitled to have it – for free? Or even, cheap? Why is it OK for RICH people to pay more in taxes? What gives you [us] the right to punish them for working hard? We have the same opportunity to succeed in life as they did.
As long as we have the “right” to the same “conditions” to succeed, we have all that we will ever need. Let us stop with the class envy and the income jealousy. Let us stop treating the middle or lower income people as if they need our pity, and start treating them the same way we treat the Rich. By forcing them to pay their fair share. So that all human souls, are once again equal in the eyes of the Law, just as they are equal in the eyes of God.
